The following are some of the more common tax deadlines coming up in July.
VAT
If your VAT quarter end is 30 June, you need to submit your return by 29 July (paper) or 7 August (online). Your payment is usually the same as the due date for your return. More information on deadlines can be found here. Details of how to pay your VAT are here.
Companies
If your company year end is 31 October 2010, you need to file your abbreviated accounts with Companies House by 31 July 2011.
Also, any corporation tax is payable by 1 August 2011. Details of how to pay are here.
Employers
If you pay your PAYE monthly, the payment for m/e 5 July 2011 is due by 19 July 2011. If you pay your PAYE quarterly, the same dates apply (i.e. q/e 5 July, payment due by 19 July). If you pay by cheque, the payment needs to be with HMRC by 19 July. Details of how to pay are here.
Also, if you have to complete expenses and benefits forms P11D, these are due by 6 July 2011. Payment of Class 1A NIC declared on form P11D(b) must reach HMRC by 19 July if paying by cheque or 22 July if paying electronically.
Income Tax
If you pay personal income tax and are caught under the 'payment on account' system, the second payments for the 2011 tax year are due by 31 July 2011. Details of how to pay are here.
Payment deadlines can be tight and increasingly HMRC are levying penalties for late payment, so we advise giving yourself a few days grace.
