HMRC Offer Landlords Online Training

Published on: 20/06/2014

As part of HM Revenue & Custom’s (HMRC) Let Property campaign, landlords are being offered online training in tax matters.  The computer-based tutorials will make it easier for landlords to understand when and how to pay tax on property they have let out.

The Let Property campaign is aimed at people renting out residential property who have not registered to pay tax, and who have therefore potentially underpaid tax.

The online training can be accessed here.

In particular, we would advise landlords to pay close attention to the section on repairs.  It is important to distinguish between repairs and improvements.  This section of HMRC's manuals provides more detail.

Please note: posts were written at a specific time and reflect the rules in place at that time, which may no longer be relevant. Furthermore, the posts are generic in nature.
