The Employment Allowance

Employers – Get up to £2,000 off your NI Bill

In the 2013 Budget, an initiative was announced which would give small employers up to £2,000 off their employer’s National Insurance (NI).  The initiative, known as the Employment Allowance, will be available to employers who employ 250 staff or less.  It also includes companies where the only employees on the payroll are directors.

The process for claiming the Employment Allowance seems to be fairly straightforward.  HMRC has been working with payroll software providers to make the process as simple as possible, in the form of a one time get cialis prescription online “yes/no” box which can be ticked to confirm that your company is entitled to claim the Employment Allowance.  It then looks like it will be available against employer’s NI on a cumulative basis until the £2,000 has been fully utilised.

NB this may have implications for directors of small limited companies who take a nominal salary and dividend income.  We will be advising clients accordingly.
